Self Learning Real-time Energy Management Information System (EMIS)
Optimize energy consumption across site consumers and producers
Industrial Energy Management Software
Technology description
Plantweb™ Analytics’ Real-time Energy Management Information System (EMIS) automates the process of mapping and managing energy consumption across a site, as it is being consumed. It allows to better manage site energy consumption and costs, organizations need an accurate way to visualize where and how energy is being consumed. Real-time alerts, dashboards and emails notify decision-makers, through dynamic energy targeting, when energy consumption is above expected, and identifies the root cause, so that actions may be taken to drive down energy costs.
Key features
- Dynamic Energy Target Calculation using predictive analytics, which estimates dynamic energy targets based on changing process conditions such as asset availability, operating modes, process scenarios etc.
- Real Time Insight in energy consumption across site and tools to minimize energy cost and CO2 emissions at desired production levels
- Root Cause Analysis to graphically identify and pin-point equipment or root cause of multiple levels of plant hierarchy responsible for deviations
- Intuitive webbased dashboard allows the user to understand and fix issues
- Plantweb™ Analytics’ is based on rigorous models of energy consumption for certain asset classes
- Realistic energy over-consumption estimations and elimination of any false alarms
- Workflows for test and corrective actions are also provided to the users
- Integrates seamlessly with current site control, SCADA and/or enterprise systems
- Based on industry-standard ASME PTC (Performance Test Codes) and coupled with engineering to shape the accuracy to the result as installed at the site
Application fields
- All process units that can be defined as ‘EAC – Energy Account Centers’
Business case
ARKEMA (Kentucky, USA) struggled with a lack of knowledge on energy losses. They applied the EMIS solution to 11 Energy Account Centers (EACs) that applied energy KPIs and cost calculations on a dashboard. The system provided Cost Summary reports and an email notification (workflow) upon exceptions. Additionally, the top 3 root-cause-analysis models were engineered to be automated on their main EACs to provide clear visibility to known issues.
CO2 impact / Energy cost reduction
- Knowledge of deviation percent from expected use
- Between 3-7% of reduction in total site energy usage: Purchased fuel, internal fuels, electricity. More is possible with Energy Balancing (best cost solution for a given operational condition on more than one energy input, i.e., natural gas source and coal source).
Non-energy benefits
- Proven compliance to regulatory requirements
Technology deployed by
