Technology description

De Jong Combustion has developed natural gas burner solutions that are able to use preheated combustion air and meet stringent NOx and CO emissions regulations, without making use of flue gas recirculation.

  • The combination of using preheated air and no flue gas recirculation is a key enabler to maximize furnace efficiency (up to 5%) within NOx emission constraints
  • This burner enables the use of waste heat (external or flue gas cooling) to heat up combustion air
  • May be applied in combination with deep flue gas cooling (<100 oC)

Key features

  • Heat recovery from flue gas and/or using waste heat to pre heat combustion air can increase furnace/boiler efficiency up to 5%
  • De Jong Combustion burners are proven to emit <60-100mg/Nm3 (3% O2) NOx (fuel and furnace dependant) and <50 mg/Nm3 (3% O2) CO with air preheat temperatures up to 125 oC, without flue gas recycle
  • De Jong Combustion burners use pre-mixing and staged fuel concepts to reduce peak flame temperatures and as such allow for low NOx
